n Sunday, I lead a
delegation of 13 scout members to Dechen-Phodrang temple. Mr. Nado, Dzongkha lopen of our school
accompanied us as a guide.
Dechen-Phodrang is
some 6 hours journey by foot from Yangtse town. The temple is located near a
small tributary which adjoins the Kholong-chhu.
The temple is one of
the most sacred holy site which is visited by the devotes from far and wide. Everyday
devotes swarm the site like bees in the hive. The reason for its sacredness is because
it’s the place where Guru Rinpochhe mediated, when he visited Bhutan.
It was a wonderful opportunity
to cleanse our much provoked mind once in a while. It relives our tensed mind
from everyday activities when we see such holy monuments, passed on through the
cycle of generations.
Time has elapsed,
centuries have gone by, things have changed but when these wondrous monuments
stand before us- we just sigh and say ‘Nothing has changed in all these years’,
because we know, these structures weren’t built yesterday but was there some
thousands of years ago.
So wouldn’t you care
to visit? I bet you…

Although i have not been to this place, your post took me to the place and i knew that it is one of the most sacred sites in our country. The world is keeping us so busy in doing worldly affairs and we seldom remember to visit such holy sites and get blessing from them. But it is nice that you have it for us through the post.
