HAVOC due to inflation and commoner’s HOPE

Try to check any classified sections and you will be greeted by all those hungry brokers. The so called brokers are trying to dispose their scraps for double the initial price. And can we blame them? I guess not.

The prices for all the commodities have shot up. Few years back, people use to complain, particularly in Thimphu, that Nu. 500 couldn’t fill the ordinary bag and guess what must be the case NOW?

Get on the street and ask what’s making the prices climb the ladder that fast?  90% (estimation) of us doesn’t have the clue for whatsoever matter. Even I get included in that figure for crying out loud. Damn! Nobody wished for it, but it did came like a hammer and that too on everyone’s head. All of us are affected.

There used be a time when one could knock on the door of the banks in times of the desperation. Even that has been gone off the hook. That too for god knows reasons. Well there is a blame game happening everywhere. Government accuses the central banks and the latter reciprocates evenly. For the commoner like me, everything is just unfathomable.

Now- a-days, the second hand cars cost more than the new ones. Half of the Bhutanese are into the business of making quick bucks with all the crooked ideas. Perhaps that’s an act to balance the survival of the fittest in this time of desperation.

We regard ourselves as the citizens of Gross National Happiness nation right? So can we pull a blanket over other’s view and trick them into buying our unwanted scraps for that matter. Probably NOT.  But that happening and happening NOW. So much so for GNH people.

Each one of us hopes the government to fix this inflation oriented mess but that’s not the Government’s top priority I guess. We appease ourselves saying someday they would. And we are still counting to unleash that “SOMEDAY”
